Her eyes opened to see that the Spring of Memories was a soft green. It made her think of new growth in plants. She shook her head to clear away her vision, she couldn’t believe what she had seen. She had seen Gaia create first life, and she had seen her protect it from the other Spirits of the time. She had lived through that rage, and she saw more than a little of herself in Gaia. She also saw some of Gabriel in Gaia.

It was not a settling comparison.

She turned as Hecate started to move. She was wiping away amethyst tears. “This place always seems to pull out the memories that strike home the most. It seems that Mnemosyne wanted me to know her life. She had such a mournful life. What did you see?”

“The creation of Life and Gaia protecting it. Her wrath was terrible to behold.”

“It would seem that you are meant to learn many things about Gaia.”

“I wonder why?”

“I wonder that also. It may become clear in time, but for now store away these invaluable memories. They may lead us to Gaia earlier.”

Sariel smiled “who knows” she placed her arm around Hecate’s shoulder as they left the Spring by another tunnel.
